Setting up OpenAI - for ChatGPT users
If you're already familiar with ChatGPT, this connects the same company's AI to Quillon. One important thing to know upfront: ChatGPT Plus and API access are separate.
Having a ChatGPT subscription doesn't automatically give you API access - you'll need to add a small amount of credit at platform.openai.com. Most Quillon users spend just a couple of dollars a month.
Step 1: Sign in to the OpenAI Platform
Go to platform.openai.com and sign in with your OpenAI account.
Step 2: Add billing credit
Think of it like a prepaid balance. Most people add $5 and it lasts for months of light use. Go to Settings → Billing to add your credit.
Step 3: Create an API key
Look for "API Keys" in the dashboard. Create a new key and name it "Quillon" so you know where it's being used.
Step 4: Copy your key
Copy the key as soon as it's created. OpenAI only shows it once for security reasons.
Step 5: Connect in Quillon
Open Quillon's Settings → AI Configuration, select OpenAI, paste your key, and save.
Recommended model: gpt-4o-mini. It's incredibly fast and affordable, and it works great for everything Quillon does.
